Transformation

I recently had a chance to visit the butterfly pavilion at the Natural History Museum in LA. Inside of a serene enclosure that smells like pineapples (which the butterflies are enjoying on decadent fruit plates), I observed butterflies flying, sunning themselves and socializing. I even got to meet butterflies who had just emerged from their chrysalises that morning- they were lounging in an open mesh laundry basket just “getting used to their new bodies.” Can you imagine waking up with wings?

Seeing the butterflies and having them land on me ignited a sense of wonder- an open, expansive feeling of awe. The ones wobbling with their new wings reminded me that true transformation is not only possible but also our birthright as beings of the natural world.

What would it be like to embody the newest version of you, while honoring and holding the ones that came before? What would it be like to feel the deep sense of belonging that nature holds for you, patiently waiting for you to come and claim it?
